North Bay Grit Removal Facility
The North Bay Wastewater Treatment Plant has the capacity to treat 54,490 m3/day. The major project highlight was the supply and installation of two temporary 750 mm bypass lines, which were required to keep the influent flows entering the plant while the new grit removal facility was being constructed. The project also involved the supply and installation of two mechanical bar screens, a conveyor press and compactor, a vortex grit removal system, five blowers, an odour control unit, nine sluice gates, seven of which were actuated, a motor control centre, and miscellaneous control panels, as well as all required instrumentation and programming associated with the equipment.
