Britannia and Lemieux Islands Water Treatment Plants – Water Quality Improvements
Extensive renovations were conducted simultaneously at each facility, including the installation of five chemical storage tanks (two sodium hydroxide tanks, two hypochlorite tanks, and one sulfuric acid tank). The old lime towers and chemical feed systems were decommissioned and replaced with a sodium bisulfate system and a tower tank. Renovations were conducted to the existing heating and electrical systems in order to meet the needs of the new chemical feed analyzers and the staff offices. Extreme coordination procedures were implemented to ensure that the existing facility remained fully operational throughout the project.
