Morrisburg Wastewater Treatment Plant

The Morrisburg Wastewater Treatment Plant is a Class II treatment facility capable of treating 4,608 m3/day. The project involved the construction of a new plant, pumping station, and an outfall pipe, as well as the demolition and decommissioning of the existing plant and lagoons. Some project highlights include a standby generator, several precast chambers, a motor control centre, ten control panels, two sequential batch reactors (SBR), an autothermal thermophilic aerobic digestion (ADAT) system, and a sludge holding tank. It also involved the pouring of 1500 m3 of concrete and the installation of SBR equipment, blowers, screening equipment, grit removal equipment, HVAC, plumbing, stainless steel piping that varied in diameter, a new electrical service, instrumentation, and SCADA. The 40-foot deep influent pumping station is fed via a 750 mm gravity sewer, and from there the four submersible pumps, through a 300 mm forcemain, send the influent sewage to the screens, which are housed in the wastewater treatment plant.
